Canterbury and Coastal Clinical Commissioning is supporting a local NHS social media campaign to raise awareness of flu symptoms, causes, treatment and prevention this winter.

The NHS has launched a Christmas carol on social media which uses the 12 days of Christmas tune but with flu symptom lyrics.

It was sung by local staff who are not on the frontline to raise awareness of flu.

The carol has been embedded in an interactive image and has multimedia links to information about flu and where to get urgent care help locally.

Dr Mark Jones, Clinical Chair and urgent care lead for Canterbury and Coastal Clinical Commissioning Group, said: “Flu can be very serious for some people which is why the NHS offers free vaccination to those who are most at risk of complications.

"I would urge everyone eligible for a free NHS flu vaccination to ensure they are immunised at their GP practice as soon as possible, to give themselves maximum protection against flu this winter."

The image's links point to information about flu symptoms, causes, treatment and prevention. It has a PDF download of local pharmacy, Minor Injury Unit and Walk-in Centre contact details and opening times.

There's also information about who is eligible for the free flu vaccination and why we need to save A&E for emergencies, serious illness and injuries only.
