The pilot ran from 3 November 2014 to 31 March 2015. It involved patients being seen at: Queen Victoria Memorial Hospital in Herne Bay, Faversham Health Centre, and Estuary View Medical Centre in Whitstable.
It was for urgent appointments only, where patients would have accessed hospital services for conditions such as urinary tract infections (UTIs) and bronchitis.
While the pilot was due to end at the end of March, NHS England asked Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) if they could continue this pilot for a further month, because this is often a busy time in A&E departments.
This extension was discussed with the three areas piloting the service and Whitstable and Faversham will continue until 26 April 2015.
Patients who need an urgent doctor’s appointment at the weekend after the pilot has finished are asked to dial 111.
