The independent voice for patients and social care users, Healthwatch Kent, is touring  the county starting  on Monday 8 June, bringing its double decker Big Red Bus first to the University of Kent, Canterbury, with pit-stops in every Kent district between Monday 8 June and Sunday 14  June.

They are inviting everyone to meet them and share their experiences of local health and social care services, good and bad.

The Clinical Commissioning Groups in east Kent welcome this idea, as they are keen to hear what people have to say and to work with Healthwatch Kent to use those experiences to improve health and social care services for the future.

Simon Perks, Accountable Officer for NHS Canterbury and Coastal Clinical Commissioning Group, will be visiting the bus on Monday 8 June as it stops in Canterbury.

He said: “Patients are at the heart of everything we do and it is really important that people can share their experience of health and social care. This feedback is vital as we shape services in the future. By working together, we can make sure we are providing the best care in our local communities. I’d like to urge as many people as possible to come along and talk about the services they have used whether in the community or in the hospital.”

The bus is scheduled to visit the following east Kent locations:

  • Monday 8 June: University of Kent, Canterbury (am) Market Square, Dover (pm)
  • Thursday 11 June : Folkestone town centre (am) William Harvey Hospital, Ashford (pm)
  • Sunday 14 June : Clock Tower, Herne Bay (am) Westwood Cross, Broadstairs (pm)

The Big Red Bus welcomes testimonials about the entire spectrum of health and social care, from antenatal and paediatrics to A&E, mental health, residential and nursing homes and dementia care.  Anyone unable to attend in person can call the free Information and Signposting Service on: 0808 801 0102 or email info@healthwatchkent.co.uk

Healthwatch Kent is also represented at Citizen Advice Bureaux countywide.
